Typhoon Haiyan

My photography deals with the environment around us. We are all aware of how weather patterns are changing, seemingly for the worse.

The devastation we have seen in the UK from storms has been horrendous but pales in comparison to that witnessed in other parts of the world such as the Philippines where Typhoon Haiyan tried it’s best to wipe parts of the country from the map.

Witnessing the typhoon in news reports and videos gives little of the loss and emptiness those touched by the rage of the storm must feel. Lives, homes, families have been destroyed by its power.

A young man from the Philippines called Divinio Rivera reached out to me on the internet. He is a musician and has recorded a special song which is being sold to raise proceeds for one of the many charities involved in trying to repair peoples lives in the region. He wished to use one of my photos as cover art for the digital download version of the song.

My natural reaction, as any persons would be was of course, yes. My family had already donated what we could to other charities helping in the area and this was an ideal opportunity for me to help further.

The song is available for purchase now and can be found at http://divinorivera.com

Please check it out and if you are feeling generous help a good cause.

Best wishes,

Stephen
