Stephen McCurry is a fresh new photographic talent

Born in the late 70's in Northern Ireland Stephen's photography takes a modern approach to familiar themes of fine art, nature and the world around us.

Having developed a strong background in drawing and painting as well as an appreciation for art history he has an informed eye for his subject matter. Combining his arts background with influences from the worlds of cinema, comic books and martial arts enables him to create photographs which often depict scenes in unique ways and from angles others will not see.

Though artistic value is of great importance to Stephen's work his main aim is to make the viewer think about what is contained in the image rather than treat it as mere eye candy. This desire to move his audience was displayed throughout the project A Bann for Life, a wake up call to the abuse our local environment is under from people not doing something as simple as putting their rubbish in a bin.

Stephen's images have been described as 'amazing', 'stunning' and 'having a uniqueness and quality that is lost on many'. They have been published in a number of magazines, purchased by private collectors and used in tourism and advertising ventures.

Stephen uses Canon digital SLR and compact cameras along with a variety of lenses, Manfrotto tripods and Crumpler gear bags to realise his artistic vision. Processing and cataloguing are carried out using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop on Dell PC's.
